Points Juggling

Well, not as finished as I thought.  The new Apocalypse book changed the point costs of several models, upping my Imperial points, but dropping almost 1,000 points off my Tyranids… ouch!  I am not going to add any Nids for the time being, focused on my Necrons and Ogres right now.  I will start adding some Marines soon though, pretty exciting about Apocalypse.

Tyranids painted total: 19,086

Imperials painted total: 11,540

Projects Galore

Well, I think I am finally starting to recover from finishing the Tyranids.  Apocalypse is right around the corner, and it has got me really excited for my Space Marines again.  In addition, I picked up some pieces to start Minotaurs, but I am kind of waiting until the new marine book comes out before I decide exactly how I want to set them up.  Some of the vehicles I have for my Storm of Wrath marines may get appropriated for the Minotaurs instead.

My Necrons are coming along.  I almost have my original 1,500 point list all painted.  I have to finish 8 more Immortals, 2 Wraiths, and an Overlord on foot (in case his Barge dies).  I’ve painted up a pair of Heavy Destroyers and a Cryptek for the army, and added a custom built C’tan, two more Crypteks, six Acanthrites, and two Tesseract Arks.  I plan on washing the mould release off the Forge World bits today and I’ll start prepping them.  I’d like to add a pair of the new Sentry Pylons, a Canoptek Tomb Sentinel, and the board tile that Forge World makes.  Also, I will be getting 2-3 of the new Vault/Obelisks with the Apoc release.  My Necrons will be going Apocalypse scale.

I thinned out my side projects recently as well.  Traded off the Dark Eldar I had painted for a refurbished laptop.  Talked myself down from starting Tau as well.  That leaves me with Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Chaos Marines, Chaos Daemons, Tyranids, Necrons, Orcs, and Eldar for 40K.  My Tyranids and Chaos Marines are done, and I only have two vehicles to add to the Guard, for variety sake.  The Eldar and Orks aren’t really started, but I have the models for them.   I have a squad and an HQ painted for my Daemons, and they are quick to paint, just not motivated for them despite the fact that I own everything to build to 1,500 points, with a few Chaos Marine allies.  I’ve tried out two color schemes for the Eldar, and rejected both.  Think I’m going to go Ulthwe Craftworld instead of making one up.

Managed to sell off two Fantasy armies last month, my Orcs and Goblins and Chaos Daemons.  This now means I do not have a painted Fantasy army, which is a first in many years for me.  Fortunately, my local game store is starting a 5 month painting oath to paint up 2,500 points for Fantasy.  I started an Ogre Kingdoms army for this purpose, but am really hoping to get it down in 2-3 months.  I also have High Elves, Skaven, and a new Orc and Goblin project.  I will probably tackle them in reverse order that I just listed them.  The High Elves are really complicated to paint, but look great.  The Orcs should paint super fast.  The Skaven, well… I just have so many of them that it is a daunting project to look at.

Decided to sell off all my Warmachine/Hordes stuff.  I prefer larger games to the small Skirmish nature of Warma-hordes.  I think it is a good game with great looking models, just not my cup of tea.  Also, metal models are a turn off for me these days.  I vastly prefer resin or plastic.

Anyhow, that is the state of the nation here.  Currently working primarily on Necrons and Ogres, with the occasional Space Marine thrown in.  With Apoc coming and Marines rumored to get a new Codex soon, I’m sure they will be prioritized again soon.
